“Case Was Approved”: what it means
Updated October 27, 2026 · Checked against USCIS sources
USCIS approved your application or petition and mailed you an approval notice. What happens next depends on the form: a card is produced, a document is mailed, or the case moves to another agency.
What it means
For a green card or work permit, the next status is usually about the card. For a family or employment petition (I-130, I-140), approval means the person can move to the next step, such as the National Visa Center for someone abroad. For naturalization, the next step is the oath ceremony.
