What your status means
Questions
Is Case Status Check part of USCIS?
No. We are an independent service. We get your status from the official USCIS Case Status API and explain it in plain language.
Do you keep my receipt number?
No. We send it to USCIS to get your status and show you the answer. We only keep anonymous counts, such as how many checks we made today.
How often does my status change?
It depends on the form and the office. Many cases show no change for weeks, then several steps close together. Our processing times pages show the current averages.
My status has not changed in months. What can I do?
Compare your wait with the processing time for your form. If your case is outside the normal range, USCIS lets you submit a case inquiry.
